Konrad Schindler

Konrad Schindler is a full professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at ETH Zurich, a position he has held since 2010. He directs the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing lab within the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry, where he also serves as institute head.

His research spans photogrammetry, remote sensing, computer vision, and image understanding, with a focus on extracting geospatial information from large-scale imagery and sensor data — connecting Earth observation with modern visual AI and geo-AI.

He holds an MSc from the Vienna University of Technology and a PhD in computer science (2003) from Graz University of Technology. Before joining ETH Zurich, he held research positions at Graz University of Technology and ETH Zurich, carried out postdoctoral research at Monash University in Australia, and was Assistant Professor of Computer Science at TU Darmstadt.
